Visit the world's oldest amusement park

Just a short train ride from central Copenhagen lies Bakken, an amusement park situated in lush green woodlands. The Copenhagen City Pass gets you a free wristband that allows you access to all 32 rides. A great way to try the full range of rides without worrying about the cost. Please note that children under 6 years of age need to purchase a wristband if they want to use the rides.

Dyrehavsbakken, Bakken for short, opened its doors in 1583 which makes it the world’s oldest amusement park! Whether you are into wild rides to get your adrenaline pumping or you prefer a quiet outing with your friends, Bakken has it all. Situated in a lush green park boasting free-roaming deer, Bakken welcomes the whole family to a fun day in a relaxed atmosphere. The park is great for picnics or to go for a ride in a horse carriage before letting your hair down on of the exciting rides.

Rides and activities for the whole family

You can choose between a total of 32 rides, among them merry-go-rounds, thrill rides, and water slides that range from the tranquil Ferris wheel to the hair-raising drop tower and the 80-year-old wooden rollercoaster, “den gamle Rutschebane” in Danish. This is by far the most popular ride in the park, and there is no question as to the why: with a length of 852 meters and peaking at 22 meters, it lasts for a whopping 2 minutes and 30 seconds full of excitement. Please note that children under 6 years of age need to purchase a wristband if they want to use the rides.

More than rollercoasters at Bakken

As if rides weren't enough, Bakken also offers concerts, entertainment, and games for the whole family. And since you will want to spend the whole day here, there are plenty of places to turn to when the hunger sets in. Bakken offers a choice of over 20 restaurants, pubs, and cafés. Enjoy a relaxed lunch in one of the restaurants, cool down with an ice cream, or find a seat in one of the pubs for a beer and a snack.
